WordPress and Internet and SEO, Oh My!

So I’ve finally got around to playing with all of the settings and nifty features that WordPress offers bloggers (as in, yours truly) and I had to share some of the best of what I’ve discovered.

I’ve had this blog for nearly two years now and I was curious what people were typing into search engines to find me or (probably more accurately) what they typed in that landed them here, whether they meant to visit my blog or not. Read the rest of this page »

Inspiration

Because we all could use a bit of it sometimes.

“Write it so that people can hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart.”

-Maya Angelou

…And that is one of many, many reasons why she is one of the greatest.

I’m NOT Dead!

Ahh, it’s good to be back. Excuse me while I brush the dust off of this old blog. Anyways, I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve written. I haven’t been dead (which would mean I’m now brought BACK from the dead, so I’d be, like, some kind of…zombie creature? Which is just cool, except dark circles under the eyes is SO not a good look for me) nor hospitalized nor (insert terrible health emergency or injury here). Read the rest of this page »

Can’t Happen Here?

To understand what this blog is about, please first read this article on the Huffington Post about Mallory Owens, the Alabama lesbian attacked and brutally beaten by her girlfriend’s brother on Thanksgiving.

Have to give props to social media and the tight-knit power of the LGBT community – No sooner did the news of this brutal attack break did many of my friends begin posting and sharing the graphic photos and accompanying story about Mallory Owens. It was shocking to read – I have no idea what it’s like to be gay and live in the Deep South, but I always knew I probably wouldn’t like it too much…Although I never imagined that they literally still tried to kill us “down there”. The Next Big Thing (A Blog Hop Post)

As part of the “The Next Big Thing Blog Hop”, I was tagged by the wonderful Kat Wheeler. The purpose of participating in this fun project is to discuss my book and introduce readers to other awesome writers (and dare I say friends?) that I highly recommend checking out as well.

I will be answering the same questions about my book that Kat answered about hers and the authors that I tag will also answer about their works in progress (or published works) next Wednesday.

Good? Good! Now, getting started… Read the rest of this page »

All That Glitters – The Characters

So hopefully you’ve all read All That Glitters by now…Right?! ;) Right. Hopefully you have all laughed a lot, felt flashes of anger and sentimental at the appropriate places and been entertained for a few hours. Anyway, there is quite a spectrum of very different characters reflected in All That Glitters and a couple of people have asked me who my favorite one to write was. Read the rest of this page »

An Argument For Every Homophobe

There comes a time in every member of the LGBT community’s lives when you learn to desensitize yourself to the constant influx of homophobia that comes through the the media and, of course, close-minded folk all over the country. It’s almost like a fight-or-flight response; you can’t possibly expend the energy to fight or defend yourself against every single homophobic situation or phrase – So you learn to roll your eyes and choose your battles. National Coming Out Day

In celebration of National Coming Out Day, I thought I would take a moment and share what it is that inspires me to write. I recently released my first lesbian fiction/romance novel, All That Glitters, and am so grateful for both modern, emerging technology and society’s gradual acceptance of the LGBT community – Both of which has allowed me to chase my passions and share them with the world.  Read the rest of this page »

All That Glitters is OUT! Read Me, Maybe?

I am VERY pleased and excited to let everyone know that All That Glitters is officially out in both paperback and eBook formats! I am so excited to share this work with everyone and I couldn’t be happier with the finished product.
